 Dinosaurs and the Bible! Most folk, particularly children (yes, Christian kids) believe that dinosaurs lived millions of years ago. This often leads them to refuting the Bible’s account of the history of the Earth and the book of Genesis. But, did you know that dinosaurs are mentioned in the Bible? Dr. Jonathan Sarfati will be ministering at 8:30 am, 10:00 am & 11:00 am on Sunday June 2, 2013, here at Atonement. There is no doubt that Jonathan is regarded as one of the world’s leading Christian apologists when it comes to Bible/science related issues and the book of Genesis. His esteemed body of work includes his Refuting series of books, which are not only some of the biggest-selling creationist books ever, but are regarded as keystone books in the defense of a six-day, straightforward understanding of Genesis—both scientifically and theologically. Jonathan is also a co-editor of the internationally renowned Creation magazine and Journal of Creation (formerly TJ), and much in demand as an international speaker. Here’s your chance to hear a clear, logical defense of the faith, starting in Genesis, and why this issue is vitally important if we are to make a difference in our families and communities.
Jonathan studied science at Victoria University of Wellington. He obtained a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Chemistry. His Ph.D.was in Chemistry. In 2004, he wrote Refuting Compromise, defending a straightforward biblical creation timeline and a global flood, and answering biblical and scientific objections. Dr. Sarfati is also a former New Zealand Chess Champion. He is said to be be able to play 12 games of chess simultaneously while blindfolded.

 We are in the midst of something special! It’s called “Together At The Cross”. Each Wednesday until Easter there is an opportunity for whole families to come for a Wednesday evening meal and a service focused on the Jesus and His passion! We have also chiseled out 15 minutes prior to the service for what we are calling, Pray49. It is a brief time for one young person to be paired up with one adult of the same gender to share prayer requests and pray together prior to the service. We did something similar to this almost 2 yrs ago and it was a great time of cross-generation prayer.
A brief glance at the schedule:
5:00pm – Choir Practice for those wanting to be in the Easter Cantata called “The Story” (until 6pm)
5:30pm – Dinner begins
6:00pm – Choir members join dinner
6:45pm – Pray49 Prayer Time in Sanctuary
7:00pm – Services around the theme, “Celebrate Jesus” and looking at different aspects of His life and sacrifice.
Services are simple and include worship, Scripture, a message, brief small group discussions and a closing song. Kids Club is also continuing through these weeks so children have the opportunity to participate in that time during the service. This is a very special and memorable time of growth together. Don’t miss it! |

Come take a look!  All are welcome to an Open House on July 29th with refreshments and gifts from 5-6pm, a Celebration Service at 6pm and finger foods to follow. Construction is completed! The building expansion Phase One provided increased foyer/fellowship space, a larger kitchen, upper offices, additional restrooms and storage space! Atonement has a commitment to build debt-free. Praise God, He has provided for this exciting undertaking! Come celebrate with us what God has done! |

 Kids! You won't want to miss Kids Bible Day Camp this summer at Atonement! It's a solid week of awesome stories from the Bible, as well as crafts, games, snacks, songs and more!
This fun week will be July 9th-13th! We get started everyday at 9:00am and wrap up at 11:30am!
This year's theme is built around a "theme park" feel! It's going to be lots of fun to have the songs, games, crafts and decorations revolve around that!
